A little bit about us

A B&B with a interesting history...

The Old Bakehouse is situated in the attractive village of Farndon about eight miles south of Chester on the banks of the river Dee, which forms the border with Wales.

The building dates from about 1780 with later additions (and plumbing). It was originally a shop and a bakery known as ‘Harrison’s Stores’ and was in use as such until 1986 after which it was sympathetically converted into a family home.

The original bread ovens are still in the kitchen although no longer used for baking bread or for the villager’s turkeys at Christmas, which was another popular use!
